Lakicevic: In June, the formation of the Directorate for Financing and Encouraging Energy Efficiency
State Secretary at the Ministry of Mining and Energy, Zoran Lakicevic, said today on RTS that the Directorate for Financing and Encouraging Energy Efficiency will be formed by June, which will be a key institution for supporting citizens to increase energy efficiency in their households.
"We have been waiting for a long time for the adoption of a law that will properly regulate the field of mining and geological research, energy, energy efficiency and the rational use of energy and renewable energy sources." "Since Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic took over the mining and energy department, a lot of work has been done, and in just a few months, new laws have been prepared that will regulate the entire area and harmonize it with all European Union directives," he said.
Speaking about the set of new laws, Lakicevic added that these laws are aimed primarily at citizens and that citizens are the ones who should benefit the most.
"The new law on energy efficiency and rational use of energy will enable citizens, among other things, to replace windows and doors, ie external insulation on buildings, do roof insulation and heating systems." This law envisages the establishment of the Directorate for Financing and Encouraging Energy Efficiency, which will be formed in June after the adoption of the law in the National Assembly. Also, through the new law on renewable energy sources, an easier way will be provided for the citizens to produce electricity themselves and in that way reduce the bills ", said Lakicevic.
State Secretary especially pointed out that the role of the Administration is to help citizens in financing the replacement of doors and windows, insulating facades and heating systems by financing up to 50 percent of costs together with the local self-government, and citizens will pay 50 percent themselves.
"The procedure will be simple for the citizens, and the activities will be realized in cooperation with local self-governments and through a public call." It is also planned to continue with the co-financing of projects for energy rehabilitation of public buildings and modernization of public lighting in local self-government units. After the formation of the Administration, the plan is to expand the subsidies in the next phases to public buildings and institutions, as well as to schools and kindergartens, "Lakicevic added.
