Mihajlovic: Academy of Engineering Sciences and Ministry of Partners in defining and realizing the development of mining and energy
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic, PhD, stated at the signing of the agreement on cooperation between the Ministry and the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Serbia that it is impossible to work on strategic documents, energy development and investment ventures without cooperation with people who have enough knowledge and experience.
"I think that the agreement will bring quality to the development of strategic and normative documents that the Ministry is preparing, and that we will work together to define and implement plans and projects that are crucial for the development of energy in Serbia." Serbia is facing a large investment venture that is impossible to carry out without a profession and people who have enough knowledge and experience. I believe that the knowledge that the Academy has and that it will offer to the Government, ie country, will be very useful and that everything we do in the field of mining and energy will be of better quality. I also mean the participation of members of the Academy in the development of strategic documents - the Energy Development Strategy and the National Integrated Climate and Energy Plan, but also the participation in defining all energy sustainable plans and projects that we will implement in the coming decades to remain energy safe, said Mihajlovic.
"This is practically a continuation of the cooperation with the Deputy Prime Minister, considering that we had a similar agreement while she was leading the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure." We see cooperation in the field of mining and energy as key when we talk about the development of these sectors in Serbia, because we think we can help, bearing in mind that energy is a strategic resource. We want to talk about all topics and all energy sources, especially RES and nuclear energy, which is current again, as well as smart grids to connect consumers. We have all the profiles of engineers, both for gas and oil and for electricity. I believe that the cooperation will contribute to both the Academy and the Ministry, and in the final analysis, that it will bring a lot of good to the state, "said Prof. Branko Kovacevic, PhD, President of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Serbia.
The agreement stipulates that the Ministry and the Academy cooperate in the preparation and implementation of strategic documents, plans and projects of common interest through the exchange of information and data, with the aim of advancing research in mining, transport and storage, energy production and distribution. Also, the cooperation refers to the fight against climate change and environmental protection, as well as greater use of RES, and the participation of representatives of the Ministry in the boards of the Academy, and the participation of AINS members in the working groups of the Ministry.
