Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic, PhD, said that thanks to the decision to choose a strategic partner for RTB Bor, the city of Bor, mining in Serbia, as well as the economic sector began to develop again.
At the annual working session of "Zijin" in Bor, she said that the vision of the Government and the President of Serbia led to the creation of conditions for accelerated and sustainable economic growth.
"I am glad to be in Bor today. I visited the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, which is the pride not only of Bor, but of the whole country. The institute has the latest equipment, highly educated and professional people work there, and I am sure that it will continue to work even better in the coming period. I am also glad to be at the presentation of the report on the work of "Zijin", because not so long ago there were many problems here, many wanted to close RTB, there were various proposals on how RTB should work or not work. Our vision was different, the vision of the Government and the President of Serbia was to have a strategic partner and we were right. "Conditions for development have been created and many progress has been made, especially during the last year," said Mihajlovic.
She pointed out that the revenues of the city of Bor were increased from 1.7 to nearly four billion dinars, and that the opening of the new, green mine "Cukaru Peki" opened a new chapter in mining.
"There were close to a billion dollars of investments, half of which were in strengthening capacities and opening new ones." "More than 120 million have been invested in environmental protection, because everything that is being done in Serbia must be in accordance with the highest standards of environmental protection," she said.
Jian Ximing, General Manager of "Zijin Copper", said that the annual session was an opportunity to present all the results achieved in the previous year and the plan for this year.
"The goal this year is green development, which we cannot achieve without the support of the Government and the Ministry." "We have achieved great results during 2021, thanks to the support of the state, and we want to continue working on the development of green, sustainable mining in Serbia," he said.
Aleksandar Milikic, the mayor of Bor, said that a new history of mining and the future of the city is being built in Bor.
"With the policy of the Government and President Aleksandar Vucic, and with the good business of" Zijin ", a new future of the city is being built. In the last four years, we have experienced ecological and economic progress. About 8,600 people are employed in "Zijin " and companies related to the mine. The average salary is higher than 100,000 dinars, and the city of Bor has become one of the cities with positive migration, "said Milikić.
