Mihajlovic: Completion of the gas pipeline Aleksandrovac - Novi Pazar - Tutin in March next year, we will continue to monitor and control the works

Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Mining and Energy, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic, Ph.D., said today that she expects the construction of the distribution pipeline Aleksandrovac - Novi Pazar - Tutin to be completed in March next year and announced that the Ministry will continue to monitor the progress of the works.

"When we visited the works on this gas pipeline on February 28, we found four workers and no machines at the construction site, and today there are 195 workers and more than 80 machines on the field." At that time, 12 kilometers of pipes were welded, and that in a year and a half, and now 60 km have been welded, and 80 km have still been delivered to the route. The Ministry is here for any help, but it is important for the investor to be much more present on the ground. "If I can be on the field, so can Srbijagas," said Mihajlovic after a site visit at mountain Kopaonik.

"We expect this gas pipeline worth 52 million euros to be completed as planned, in March of next year, but it is important not to delay other projects that Srbijagas is working on, in Vranje, Paracin, Loznica, Valjevo, which are worth around 250 million euros," said Deputy Prime Minister.

She added that the construction of this gas pipeline, in addition to being important for energy security, will also contribute to the preservation of the environment, as it will enable about 30 percent of coal, fuel oil and heating oil to be replaced with natural gas in Kopaonik, and that in the future it will be possible to be used for hydrogen transport as well.

"The inspection often visited this project, as we are doing on the gas interconnection project Serbia-Bulgaria, which will also be completed next year," she said.

The head of municipality of Brus, Valentina Milosavljevic, said that the project of construction of the distribution gas pipeline is important not only for the municipality of Brus, but also for the surrounding municipalities, and that its use will contribute to the preservation of the environment.

The head of Rasinski administrative district, Ivan Andjelic, said that the gas pipeline is important for Rasinski and Raski districts because it will ensure a safe supply of gas, the possibility for households to switch to this energy source, and that it is important for energy stability and reducing pollution.

The Executive Director of the Distribution System Operator at PE "Srbijagas", Milan Zdravkovic, said that the gas pipeline is 116 kilometers long and that its construction will enable about 30,000 households in the municipalities through which it passes to switch to natural gas.
