Mihajlovic: At the end of January, a new public call for the replacement of windows and doors, relief for devastated municipalities

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy, Prof. Zorana Mihajlovic, PhD, said after a meeting with the heads of districts in Serbia, with whom she discussed the project to improve energy efficiency, which the Ministry is implementing with local governments, that a new public call for subsidies to replace carpentry will be announced at the end of the month.

She said that 230 million euros have been provided for subsidies for the replacement of carpentry and installation of solar panels this year alone, and that new public calls for both projects will be announced at the end of January and the beginning of February.

"We will announce a new public call for subsidies for improving energy efficiency at the end of the month, and in February a new public call for subsidies for solar panels. The state provided enough money, as if we were building one power plant. We have every opportunity to enable all citizens to reduce energy consumption. The first project that is being completed, for which 1.2 billion dinars have been set aside, and how it will bring results, will also reduce the bills of the participating households by 20 to 30 percent. At the national level, that means savings of 50 million kilowatt-hours a year and, which is equally important, 300,000 tons less carbon dioxide emissions, "she explained.

Mihajlovic said that the Ministry provided 230 million euros for this year and announced relief for devastated municipalities and socially endangered citizens.

"The goal is for all households to have the opportunity to replace carpentry. "It is in the national interest and goal to reduce consumption by at least 30 percent in the next few years, which is why we have provided enough money, because this is an important project, as if we were building a new power plant," she said.

"The total value of projects in the field of energy efficiency in our district in all seven local governments for last year is more than 63 million dinars, 149 contracts were signed. This year, the funds are much higher, only the city of Kragujevac has allocated four times more money, and all seven local governments have determined funds to improve energy efficiency this year, " said Biljana Stosic Ilic, head of Sumadija district.

Vladimir Stankovic, the head of Bor district, said that they have started a big project, which will contribute to the citizens being part of the program implemented by the state, ie the Ministry and local self-governments.

"Cooperation with the Ministry will enable a new heating plant in Majdanpek, and this practice will be followed by other cities and municipalities in Bor district," he said.

Dragana Toncic, the head of Pirot district, thanked the Ministry for its support in the realization of the project in Pirot and Dimitrovgrad and announced that larger funds are planned for this year in all local self-governments.
