Mihajlovic: Energy infrastructure is necessary for Serbia to be the leader in the region
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic, PhD, said, answering questions from journalists in Bor, that the new investment cycle in mining and energy is worth 17 billion euros. She reiterated that reducing energy consumption is one of the national goals.
"I headed the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure for six years and I thought then, as well as today, that infrastructure is the basis for all investments, and if we don't have it, whether it is traffic or energy infrastructure, then we won't have investments, and infrastructure is necessary for us to be leaders in energy. The priority in the process of energy transition is to build capacities that use renewable sources for energy production, then reduce energy consumption, because we annually throw the production of one thermal power plant out the window. Therefore, we will continue to subsidize the replacement of carpentry in the coming years, and that will require about 150 million euros a year. As for mining, about five billion euros will be invested there, "said Mihajlovic.
