Mihajlovic: By limiting the price of firewood, we protect the country's energy security
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic, PhD, said that the Ministry initiated the adoption of the Regulation on limiting the price of pellet and the Decision on the temporary ban on the export of pellet and certain wood assortments, because at the time of the energy crisis and preparations for winter, the energy balance is taken into account and in order to prevent a shortage of these products.
"We believed that at the time of the energy crisis and preparations for winter, we have to take care of the energy balance, and that is why we need to solve all potential problems." More than 110,000 households use pellets, and more than 700,000 use firewood, and if they cannot get pellet or wood, then it is a blow to the energy balance, because more than 800,000 people will start heating with electricity. So, on the one hand, we protect energy security, and on the other hand, we help producers and sellers. We limited the price of pellet to 320 euros per ton, banned exports and thus created an order on the market that currently does not exist. Also, a working group has been formed which, together with other institutions and state bodies, will control the implementation of decisions," Mihajlovic said in response to journalists' questions after the session of the Assembly of the Chamber of Mining and Geological Engineers of Serbia, which was constituted today.
