Mihajlovic: Nis-Dimitrovgrad interconnection brings stability to Serbia and the region
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic PhD, said today, at the beginning of works on the construction of the gas interconnector Nis-Dimitrovgrad, that Serbia, in addition to the additional direction of supply, also gets the opportunity to diversify suppliers, which further provides stability in the gas sector.
"Gas interconnection between Serbia and Bulgaria means stability in gas supply, but at the same time it gives the possibility of diversification not only of routes, but also of suppliers, which is crucial for long-term security." This interconnector is important because we get the opportunity to supply gas from other directions and other suppliers, such as the LNG terminal in Greece, the Southern Gas Corridor and the TAP and TANAP pipelines, which transport gas from the Caspian region, and in the future through the project "The Eastern Mediterranean, that is, through Cyprus and Israel," she said.
Mihajlovic said that it was important for Serbia, as well as in transport, to become an unavoidable corridor in energy and to be connected with all countries in the region.
"Energy infrastructure, such as transport, is necessary for sustainable economic growth in the future, especially in light of the energy crisis that has hit Europe and the world, and building new energy capacities and connecting will ensure energy security for Serbia and the region," she said. the beginning of works on the construction of the gas interconnection Serbia-Bulgaria.
