The Section for Legal and Economic Activities in Geology and Mining Sector carries out the activities related to the: preparation of draft laws, draft bylaws and technical regulations in the field of geology and mining and harmonization of regulations with European Union regulations; conducting analyses of the effects of the application of these regulations; preparation of opinions and explanations on the application of laws and other regulations in this area; preparation of responses to the questions posed by parliament members and questions based on the requests for access to information of public importance in the field; organisation of professional meetings and gatherings related to the preparation and implementation of regulations in the field of mining and geology; cooperation with representatives of local self-governments in relation to resolving issues of importance for the application of regulations in this area; participation in monitoring and control of the procedure for issuing approvals in the field of geology and mining; determination and collection of fees for geological exploration and fees for the use of mineral resources and reserves; monitoring the situation in regards to the economic trends in the field of use and prices of mineral raw materials; participation in the preparation of expert bases and drafting of acts within the procedure of granting concessions for exploration and exploitation of mineral resources; participation in the preparation of project proposals in the field of mining and geology that can be financed by the grants provided by international institutions; drafting decisions based on appeals against decisions of mining and geological inspectors and decisions on the proposal for annulment of final decisions; preparation of responses to lawsuits in administrative disputes based on second instance decisions; preparation of draft decisions, conclusions and information for the Government; monitoring the performance of entrusted tasks by the competent provincial and municipal authorities; preparation of the annual action plan, preparation of the financial action plan of the sector; participation in the procedure of concluding financial agreements in the field of mining and geology; management of the information system in the field of geology and mining, as well as other activities within the scope of the activity of the Section.
