Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedović Handanović, stated today that U.S. sanctions against NIS have been postponed until July 29 and emphasized that the further postponement of the sanctions is good news for the citizens of Serbia.
Djedović Handanović mentioned that written confirmations regarding the postponement of the sanctions arrived overnight to the Government of the Republic of Serbia, marking the fourth such delay.
She pointed out that the sanctions were postponed through a difficult and strenuous diplomatic effort. "We held tough negotiations, as the President of Serbia mentioned, but we managed to secure another postponement. This is good news for the citizens of Serbia," she said.
This is the fourth postponement of sanctions against NIS, which were imposed on January 10 due to Russia’s majority ownership in the company.
